Some of the activities are purposely designed to get the children looking around their new classroom and asking their classmates questions.
It is also full of fun activities which could be used as time fillers or finishing activities but can also be a fun way of checking and revising skills such as writing numbers, and recognising sounds.
I hope you enjoy it as much as my class did!

Big Writing: Creative writing picture prompts & quick plan for original stories
Get some creative writing going using pictures as stimuli.
This activity pack has 20 different picture prompts and a simple planning sheet for children to plan and write an original story.
Great for creative writing sessions like “Big Writing” or even just a fun story writing challenge.
When using this in my class I would do one picture writing session a week. After modelling a few of these sessions and completing the planning and writing through shared ideas, the children became more confident and their stories really went in different directions!
How to teach with this Creative Writing tool (example in preview):
First pick which picture will be the stimulus for the story. Discuss, study and unpick the picture with the children, talking about what they see, what might be happening, how it might have happened etc.
Use the planning sheet to decide what part of the story it might be. Does it explain the characters in the story? The setting? What has happened? Or the ending?
Once the children have stuck the picture onto the planning sheet, they can draw pictures to complete the rest of the story.
When they have finished their plan they are ready to write!
